Jessica Zarins GCFP

I was introduced to the Feldenkrais Method® while on a full-merit scholarship to Seattle’s Cornish College of the Arts in Dance. Toward the end of my freshman year, I sustained severe injuries relating to how I moved and danced. Over a year-and-a-half after being crippled and on crutches, I tried various therapies and healing methods with minimal or temporary results.

In the Feldenkrais Method® class at Cornish, I completed twelve Awareness Through Movement® lessons. I fully recovered from my injuries and returned to dance classes and performance rehearsals, painlessly dancing to my absolute ability! The profound effect of the Feldenkrais Method® on my life inspired me to continue my education. After graduating from Cornish College of the Arts holding a BFA in Dance with minor(s) in Kinesiology and Musical Theater, I attended four years of Feldenkrais® training to become a practitioner.

As an individual who went from barely being able to move to the peak of the movement spectrum, I relate to a broad range of movement experiences. In the second year of my four years of Feldenkrais® training, I reinvented my movement capabilities by teaching myself contortionism. I performed as a professional Dance Contortionist for two years while finishing my Feldenkrais® training. In 2006, I graduated from the Seattle Eastside Feldenkrais® Training as a Guild Certified Feldenkrais® Practitioner.

Since then, I’ve continued to build my Feldenkrais® practice and perform my Dance Contortion acts throughout the U.S. I invite you to discover what your movement dreams are and to explore the possibilities you have held within, unrealized.
